Hi, I’m Jim.
In high school, I was known as a “jack of all trades, master of none,” kind of guy, earning the nickname MacGuyver—a playful nod to my last name (McGarvey) and the resourceful TV character. My curiosity led me to explore a bit of everything, fascinated by the endless wonders of the world.
Fast forward a few years, and while I like to think I’ve mastered a few things, my curiosity remains as strong as ever. My personal library, with 10,000 ebooks and 5,000 physical books, is a testament to my love for reading and learning. No, I haven’t read them all, but I do spend hours each day immersed in anything that piques my interest.
One day at work, a challenge arose. I had an idea, but a senior leader dismissed it, saying, “No, that’s not how it’s done!” Determined, I spent 45 minutes convincing him otherwise. At the end, I half-joked, “I’m going to write a book about this.” His eye roll was all the motivation I needed. I’ve read countless books; how hard could it be to write one? Well, it turned out to be quite hard, but I did it.
Writing has since become my passion. I founded J Patrick Books to release my books, but also to help other writers get their voices heard. More importantly, I aim to provide readers with books that ignite their passion for learning, making knowledge accessible and engaging without being confusing or intimidating.
